Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT) is free for newcomers to Ontario.
Participants must be permanent residents, convention refugees/protected persons, Ukrainian temporary residents or their dependants in Canada (until March 31, 2025), or temporary residents affected by the crisis in Gaza (showing “MOME2023” in status documentation until March 31, 2027). They must live in Ontario and have:
- training or experience in a specific occupation or industry, but need to improve their occupation-specific communication skills.
- a valid language proficiency of at least level 5 in Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) for courses taught in French. Some courses/modules require higher CLB levels.
Participants will develop the language and communication skills needed to
- understand workplace culture in their occupation and sector.
- interact effectively with their colleagues, clients and supervisors.
- give and receive information by email and telephone.
- interview and network effectively.
Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT) est disponible en français sous l’appellation La Formation linguistique axée sur les professions (FLAP). Si vous souhaitez accéder à la formation en français et/ou aux services d’établissement en français, veuillez s.v.p. vous rendre dans le site Web de FLAP, ou communiquer avec les collèges de langue française.
Occupation-specific Language Training (OSLT) is available in French as La formation linguistique axée sur les professions (FLAP). If you wish to access French language training and/or French settlement services, please go to the FLAP website or contact the Francophone colleges (Boréal or La Cité).
